The Ancient Temples of Lord Shiva ( In one straight line)
Lord Shiva being one of the holy Trinity and is often prayed with reverence and devotion. Associated with time and legend has it that he is known as the destroyer of all the things which is going against nature. He is identified as many personalities - an ascetic, a warrior, leader of ghosts and spirits as he is believed to reside in the graveyard, he is related to goodness and benevolence and mysticism and the occult as well. He is also known as the Adi yogi - the first yogi who inculcated the seed of wisdom in the first seven rishis also known as the Saptrishis. If you go searching about him then you are bound to find an abundance of stories and legends about this being.
Another important point which I would like to point is about him as Ardanareshwari. The legend carries a beautiful mythological story about how Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Parvati represent the form of Ardhnarishwara. Our planet is made of yin and yang energies and in other words it is an interplay of masculine ( shiva) and feminine ( Parvati) energies. This is what Lord Shiva represent an amazing and interesting concoction of balance and flow of energies.
However, there are some Shiva temples around which there is a certain sense of mysterious aura! If you look at the map there a few temples of Lord Shiva that of which you connect the dots it forms a straight line. In fact the first time I learnt about this, I couldn’t believe it and I checked on google. It was shocking but it was true. This could bring some questions into ones mind like:-
• Is there any particular reason for them to be in a line.
• How did they manage to get it in a straight line did they have the necessary tools?
• If so has these been recorded in time and studies done on it.
What's most important is that in ancient time, keeping the five elements in mind for the benefit of creating positive energy sources these temples were built. Lord Shiva’s temples from Kedarnath till Rameswaram are aligned in a geographic straight line. This is around 79 degrees East 41’54” Longitude. The interesting aspect here is how these temples have been constructed. Though there are thousands of miles of distance yet the mystery remains. Questions yet to be answered!
In this five of these temples are built, representing the manifestation of Linga in five elements ( pancha bhoota) of nature. Namely - Fire, Water, Air, Earth and Space. In Thiruvanaikaval the temple is built with keeping the element of Water. In Thiruvannamalai the element used is the Fire. The temple of Kalahasti has the element of Air and the element of Earth is in Kanchipuram. Keeping the element of space the temple in Chidambaram was built.
These five temples were built according to the yogic sciences are placed in a certain geographic alignment with each other so that the entire region reverberated with the possibility they offered. These have been in existence for thousands of years when no satellite technology was available to measure the latitude and longitude of those places.
When we study what is beautiful is how well the temples are placed. The Temple in Thiruvanaikkaval is located at around 3 degrees to the south and exactly 1 degrees to the west of the northern tip of this divine axis. Whereas in Thiruvannamali is around midway( 1.5 degree to the to the south and 0.5degree to the west )
Infact, an amazing fact is that the Kedarnath temple in Himalayas is also almost on same longitude as of these temples. Kaleshwaram temple (where Lord Siva and Yama are placed on same platform), and Ramanathaswamy temple at Rameswaram are also almost on same line. This literally brings all the temples in one line.
The science behind building of each temple is beyond ones imagination. For example the flickering lamps in the SriKalahasti temple shows the play of wind (respiration of Vayu Linga), Water spring in the innermost sanctum of the Tiruvanaikka temple shows the temple’s relationship to the element water, Annual Kartikai Deepam (giant lamp is lighted atop the Annamalai hill) shows the Annamalaiyaar’s manifestation as fire, Swayambhu lingam of sand at Kanchipuram signifies the Siva’s association with the earth while the formless space (Akasa) at Chidambaram shows the association of lord with formlessness or nothingness.
Just to have an understanding and to see how close to the line are these temples

What is more surprising and leaves many of us who are eager to learn and the quest for seeking this knowledge is that the yogic science that was used. The knowledge and intelligence that they had then looks more advanced that our modern science is yet to achieve. The line one which these temples is built is also called the “SHIVA SHAKTI AKSH REKHA”. There is also a another point that keeping Mount Kailash in mind in the regions which falls in 81.3119°
What is more surprising now is that the five Lingas, representing the five elements of the universe, had been installed centuries ago in a similar line. Indeed we should be proud of our ancestors ‘knowledge and intelligence that they had that advanced science and technology that even modern science has perhaps yet to achieve. It is believed that it is not only the five temples but also many more temples in this line which lie in the straight line from Kedarnath to Rameswaram. It is likely to have been made by keeping the entire temple of Kailash in the regions which falls in 81.3119° The answer only the Universe knows. …
Mount Kailash holds significant power, as the very tip of the mountain is the central point of the cosmos' rotation. In the Hindu tradition, the mountain is the throne of the great god Shiva. In Buddhism, the mountainhosts the greatest tantric meditation god, Demchong, who represents supreme bliss. Mount Kailash is believed to be the gateway to the cosmic axis, world axis, world pillar, centre of the world, the world tree. It is the point where heaven meets earth. The mysterious are aplenty answers are limited, one may actually think of all this is true and how could it have been achieved with no advanced science or technology. My take on it is, our country rich in heritage and abode of beautiful history. We did have some amazing Rishi’s who were well learned and they then just with their knowledge and wisdom had the ability to achieve this. Doesn’t this leave us thinking wow, amazing isn’t it.
